Ezekiel 34:7-24

The good shepherd is the one who loves the sheep enough to lay down his life for them. Jesus did not come to take advantage of us; He came to care for us. We can be confident in our lives and in our salvation because Jesus, the Good Shepherd, watches over us and protects us.

Read Ezekiel 34:7-10:
  1. Think of the characteristics and attributes of God. What is one that immediately comes to mind?
  2. What do you know about being a shepherd, or about the care of sheep?
  3. How are the shepherds in this passage treating the sheep?
Read Ezekiel 34:11-16:
  1. What are some characteristics of a sheep with which you can identify?
  2. What qualities of God as Shepherd stand out to you the most?
  3. Is there a situation in your life right now in which you feel defenseless?
Read Ezekiel 34:17-24:
  1. God says He will rescue His flock from the “fat sheep.” What sorts of attitudes and behaviors might that kind of person exhibit?
  2. What are some of the implications for our church if we are the flock of God?
  3. In which ways do you see the Good Shepherd leading, guiding, and protecting our church as His flock?
